The control panel is the brains of the electronic burglar system. It is the processor that collects sensor signals and in turn activates single or multiple alarms. However, the control panel plays another role in that it also communicates with the controllers: "The radical mode of operation is that whenever a sensor notes an opened door or window, or broken glass, or the movement of a warm body, the control panel is alerted. If the appropriate code is entered on the control panel within 10 to 30 seconds of the alarm universe triggered, the panel deactivates the alarm.
Otherwise it activates the siren and/or notifies a central monitoring station." Modern control panels often house six to 32 zones and is able to connect with multiple sensors per zone.

As with any electronic system there are flaws and weakness inherent in some electronic home burglar systems. For example, many systems, including this one, fall down with stickers designed to be placed on windows and doors to dissuade intruders from entry. However, experts prescribe this adds an element of weakness to the system because many master key burglars greet how a specific type of system works: "Because many burglars know all about the shortcomings of a typical professional installation, it may actually increase your risk in being burglarized. When a perceptive burglar sees certain alarm system on a home, he'll probably know how to get in and out undetected. Never use window stickers that come with your alarm. By generic stickers to avoid giving burglars any information they pot use."
The controllers on this system have a touch-tone keypad with an electronic alphanumeric readout.
