Eavan Boland Life and background Eavan Boland was born in capital of Ireland in 1944 to diplomat Frederick Boland and artist Frances Kelly. As a young child she moved, with her parents, first to London and later to New York. She has described the experience of divergence Ireland in terms of a painful exile.
